MAIDSTONE DIRECTORIES HELD

Stevens' directories (#2) were known to be published from 1882-1895 by George Stevens in London. Earliest Kent Messenger directory that is recorded, is #3, 1882.  However, the preface text inside, indicates that there was at least one predeccessor - perhaps more? Those in public repositories are recorded as 1898-1937. Kelly's directories are held in public archive between 1889-1949.  Looking at #5 1908 12th edition, it might indicate that early publishing years may not have been regularly spaced.
